See Arsenal doing late fitness tests ahead of Chelsea showdown
Following a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Watford, Arsenal will have to bounce back in style in order to overcome an impressive Chelsea side in Saturday’s fixture. Success at the Bridge, however, may depend on the availability of a number of players facing late fitness tests.
One notable absentee for the game will be Aaron Ramsey, whose injury, sustained in Tuesday’s defeat to Watford, will rule him out. Speaking in his press conference, Wenger believes the Gunners will be without the Welshman for up to “21 days” which, coincided with Xhaka’s suspension, seriously restricts the manager’s options in midfield.
Wenger had good news on Olivier Giroud, who “should be alright” for the weekend’s game. Similarly, the boss speculated that Welbeck could “come back into the group”, which would be a major boost. The only real question mark is over Chamberlain, who “has a test today [Friday]” but should be alright for the title-defining fixture.
