Neymar PSG wages make him world's second-richest player, claims Football Leaks
Already the most expensive player in football history, the Brazil star falls just short of matching the astronomical wages Tevez picks up in China
Neymar jr
Neymar's mammoth salary package at Paris Saint-Germain puts him behind just Carlos Tevez as the world's highest-earning player, claims Football Leaks.
The Brazilian completed a move to Parc des Princes from Barcelona in the summer, becoming in the process football's most expensive player thanks to a €222 million transfer fee
But the forward is additionally personally reaping the rewards of being PSG's incipient standard-bearer, according to the report which was relinquished this weekend.
neymar jr
Football Leaks affirms that Neymar earns just over €3m a month in Ligue 1, a figure that works out as a total annual salary of €36.8m.
Only Tevez, currently in the Chinese Super League with Shanghai Shenhua, takes home a more preponderant wage, with reports suggesting the Argentine will pick up €38.4m from his first year in Asia.
To put the number claimed by the controversial outlet in perspective, Neymar earns €100,000 a day, €4,000 an hour or a staggering €66 a minute.

Both South American stars, however, may anon find themselves eclipsed by a mutual former team-mate.
Lionel Messi, who starred alongside Neymar at Barcelona and additionally shared the pitch with Tevez on multiple occasions with Argentina, is expected to boost his salary to a reported €40m annually when he puts pen to paper on a long-delayed incipient deal with the Catalans.

Arsenal 3-1 Cologne:- 5 Things We Learned from the Gunners Europa League opener
Arsenal put off-field chaos behind them to come from behind and claim victory in their Europa League opener against Cologne.
Crowd trouble outside the Emirates meant kick-off was delayed by an hour with 20,000 German supporters having descended on London.
And when Jhon Cordoba fired the visitors ahead early in the piece, it looked like being a nightmare evening for the hosts.
But Arsene Wenger's side rallied in the second half with Sead Kolasinac levelling shortly after the break.
Alexis Sanchez's stunner made it 2-1, before Hector Bellerin sealed the deal nine minutes from time.
Here are five talking points from the Emirates:
1. Off-field chaos delays kick-off
Around 20,000 Cologne fans arrived in London to support their team, despite the away allocation being just under 3,000.
Stewards and police were forced to hold spectators outside the stadium amid safety fears, before turnstiles were eventually opened with a one-hour delay to kick-off announced.
Thousands of Cologne fans had managed to attain tickets in home sections of the Emirates, with some trying to gain access to the away end from inside the ground.
Four arrests were made, and it's unlikely we've heard the last of it.
2. Wenger wins game with tactical adjustment
Arsene Wenger made plenty of changes with Chelsea in mind and it was evident from the start that the 3-4-3 was not working.
At 0-1, Wenger switched it up to a 4-2-3-1 and it worked: substitute Sead Kolasinac used the ball well in deeper areas and Alexis Sanchez was able to run at Cologne from the left channel.
Will the Gunners boss be brave enough to not match up the Blues on Sunday? Or will he fall into the trap of mimicking Antonio Conte with a system that still may not entirely suit his squad.
3. All is forgiven with Sanchez
It was only a few weeks ago the Chilean was looking to move to Manchester City, with the Citizens launching a Deadline Day bid for the forward.
Arsenal were unable to sign Thomas Lemar as a replacement, meaning the 28-year-old was forced to stay put in north London.
He's since returned for the Gunners, and featured in their 4-0 hammering at the hands of Liverpool in the Premier League. His body language during the game only added to the idea he no longer wants to be at the Emirates.
But against Cologne is seems everything was suddenly forgiven.
Sanchez showed exactly why Arsene Wenger was so keen to keep hold of him with a stunning long-range strike to ensure Arsenal took all three points from the fixture. Football is a fickle game.
4. Kolasinac can become match-winner for Gunners
Whether Wenger was saving Kolasinac for Sunday or not remains to be seen, but the former Schalke star has proven to be decisive in the final third.
His strength also helps the Gunners defend better from set-pieces and his composure on the ball offers a better outlet down the left flank.
The Gunners may look for Kolasinac's quality on the ball as a mainstay of their attack and should he link up with Alexis Sanchez on a regular basis, Wenger may have the luxury of one of the best left sides in the Premier League.
5. Cologne's struggles continue
After three games of the Bundesliga season, Cologne are bottom having lost all three matches, scoring just one goal and shipping seven.
They will have seen the Europa League as a welcome distraction and a chance to turn their season around, and will have been buoyed by the early goal.
But old frailties were exploited by the Gunners after the break, and there would be no joyous return to European competition after 25 years away.
Batshuayi strikes as Cold-blooded Chelsea cruise to six against Qarabag
Michy Batshuayi scored late in the second half as Chelsea made a sweet return to Champions League football on Tuesday; beating Qarabag 6-0 at Stamford Bridge.
Pedro Rodriguez set the tone for the day as he got the opening goal in the 5th minute.
The Blues did not look back from then on as new boy Davide Zappacosta doubled Chelsea's lead on the half-hour mark.
Chelsea commenced brightly at Stamford Bridge, and were ahead within five minutes. After a series of corners, a short Willian pass to the edge of the box was met by Pedro, who was on hand to curl in emphatically.
Afforded time and space to play, with passes flowing from N'Golo Kante and Cesc Fabregas, and both Chelsea wing-backs roaming forward at pace, chances came thick and expeditious for 'The Blues'. Willian was benefitting from the space in front of the box left by a Qarabag team penned back, engendering an aperture for Michy Batshuayi who could only hit the side netting.
Further spells of possession followed, afore Davide Zappacosta distributed a second for the Blues on 30 minutes. An energetic burst down the right flank optically discerned the Italian tee himself up to whip the ball in for Chelsea's forwards to assail in the box. The ball would fly in from 30 yards out on the right touchline, and despite Zappacosta celebrating proudly on his full debut, it seemed to be an unintentional goal on his component.
Chelsea commenced off the second half where they left the first, with Spanish international Cesar Azpilicueta heading a third for Chelsea after a flurry of corners.
It was an impeccable opportunity for Conte to build the fitness of Hazard and Bakayoko, both working their way back from surgeries and given half an hour with the game as good as victoriously triumphed. The latter was on hand to net his first goal in front of the Chelsea fans, scoring from a corner after optically discerning his shot deflect over Qarabag keeper Sehic.
Willian, perhaps Chelsea's most hazardous assailant throughout the match, rattled the bar midway through the second a moiety. Chelsea would find their fifth through the industrious Batshuayi, driving a low effort towards the near post from the edge of the box. Batshuayi later celebrated what he cerebrated was his second of the night, though replays seem to corroborate the official decision to mark the goal as a Medvedev own goal after Zappacosta's fierce cross into the six yard area was bundled in for Chelsea's sixth.
Man Utd vs Basel: Devils go for the kill on UCL return
They will be hoping to do same in the Champions League beginning tomorrow.
Manchester United mark their return to the Champions League with a home clash with FC Basel. The Red Devils are back in the competition after missing out last season, and will get a first chance to impress at Old Trafford.
Team news
Mourinho will give Fellaini the chance to prove he has recovered from a recovered from a calf injury, while Bailly and Jones serve the final match of their European suspensions.
They will be replaced by Lindelof and Smalling, while Zlatan
Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo remain absent through knee injuries. The latter trained on the eve of the game along with Ashley Young and Luke Shaw.
David de Gea will retain his place in goal over Sergio Romero, who was United's starting goalkeeper during their successful
Europa League campaign last season.
Opta stats
This will be the fifth game between Manchester United and Basel, all in the Champions League. For now, the record is perfectly balanced with one win each and two draws.
Basel are unbeaten against United at Old Trafford, having drawn their two trips to north-west England (1-1 in March 2003, 3-3 in September 2011).
This is United's 21st Champions League participation, the most for an English side and the fourth-most after Real Madrid, Barcelona and Porto (22).
Only Liverpool (5) have won more European Cup/Champions League titles
than Manchester Utd (3) among English clubs.
United have reached the knockout stages in 16 of their previous 20
Champions League appearances; however they haven't made it past the group stages since 2013/14
Basel are making their eighth Champions League appearance, that's six more than any other Swiss club (Grasshopper, 2).
Basel have never progressed further than the Last 16 in the Champions League (2011/12, 2014/15).
Basel are winless in their last 10 Champions League games (D4 L6), their longest drought in the competition. They've also never scored
more than one goal in those 10 games.
Morata targets Champions League hat-trick
Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata is targetting third Champions League trophy with the Blues having won two during his spell with Real Madrid.
Chelsea is back in the top competition after missing last season
edition due to woeful campaign in Premier League, but this time
Antonio Conte's men qualified as the top flight winner in England.
The Spanish forward 'Morata', who has hit the ground running after his move from Real Madrid is targeting a third success in the competition, Chelsea is will play Qarabag at the Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.
Morata said:"I have won a lot but I want to win more. My dream is to score a lot of goals here and to win titles with Chelsea.
"That's why I left Madrid and accepted the offer here. I want to be ambitious."
He added:"For me the Champions League is the main prize you can win, both as a club and as a player.
"I have lived through the experience of playing in this competition
with both Juventus and Real Madrid - and I have won titles. This
season I am playing to win again. It will be a special success for me
if we can do it."
Morata, 24, has scored three in four Premier League games since
joining from Real Madrid and he is set to replicate the form in the
Champions League when he faced Azerbajian Champions Qarabag a fourth night.

BREAKING NEWS:- AC Milan sign in Andre Silva from Porto
Andre Silva has left Porto for AC Milan in a deal said to have worth €38 million.
The Italian giant 'AC Milan' have completed the signing of Andre Silva from Porto for a reported transfer fee of €38 million.
The Serie A giants were keen to sign an incipient striker and turned their sights to the Portuguese after relucting to match Torino's €100m valuation of Italy international Andrea Belotti.
Silva arrived in Milan for a medical on Monday and becomes their fourth incipient advent ahead of next season after the captures of Mateo Musacchio, Franck Kessie and Ricardo Rodriguez.
The 21-year-old joined the Porto youth academy in 2011 and made his first-team debut in December 2015.
Portugal international Silva, who has scored seven goals in eight caps, had since developed into a key player at the Estadio do Dragao and scored 21 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions in 2016-17.
The Rossoneri are also being heavily linked with Atalanta full-back Andrea Conti and Lazio attacker Balde Keita.
Buffon: 'I cannot explain why Juventus played like we did'
There was yet more Champions League heartache for Juventus and Gianluigi Buffon, who were left to rue a final defeat to Real Madrid.
Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon was unable to identify the cause of his team's collapse after they slumped to a 4-1 Champions League final loss to Authentic Madrid on Saturday.
The Serie A heavyweights were level at 1-1 going into the break in Cardiff thanks to Mario Mandzukic's spectacular overhead kick, but Casemiro's deflected strike, Cristiano Ronaldo's second and a tardy Marco Asensio effort visually perceived Zinedine Zidane's side become the first team to retain the Champions League in its current format.
It marked yet more disappointment on the most immensely colossal stage in European club football for veteran Buffon, who withal lost the 2003 and 2015 deciders to AC Milan and Barcelona respectively.
"We are disappointed," he was quoted as saying by UEFA.
"We played very well in the first half, we thought we had enough to win the game.
"I cannot explain why we played like we did in the second half. Real Madrid deserved to win in the second half.
"They showed their class and the attitude needed to play in this kind of game."
REVEALED: 8 matches that have defined the 2016/17 Premier League season
With the curtain set to come down on the season next weekend – and Chelsea aiming to tie things up before that – Luke Ambler looks back at the games that shaped it
The title is heading down the King's Road. Middlesbrough, who have flirted with relegation all season long, were finally put out of their misery on Monday evening as Chelsea all but guaranteed a fifth Premier League title with a comprehensive 3-0 victory at Stamford Bridge.
It was a night of mixed emotions at Stamford Bridge on Monday
1. Burnley 2-0 Liverpool - Blueprint for future failure
August 20, 2016
Liverpool were standout performers on the opening weekend with a high-energy 4-3 victory at the Emirates Stadium. However, Jurgen Klopp's juggernaut was halted in their very next fixture against bottom-half Burnley, who provided the blueprint for success against the Reds: Sean Dyche's men were happy to concede possession and defend narrowly inside their own half, before breaking at speed and exploiting their opponents' high full-backs. With it, the Reds set an unwanted Premier League record for the most possession (80.6%) in defeat.
Liverpool have since dropped eight points to sides in the bottom three, and have also lost to Leicester, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth - each of whom were entertaining thoughts of a relegation dogfight at the time of facing them.
Klopp's men, who have relied heavily on winning the ball in advanced areas and high-octane attacking, have repeatedly struggled to break down teams who surrender possession and rely on counter-attacks and – particularly – set-pieces. It's a problem the German has yet to solve - signified by the drab 0-0 draw with Southampton on Sunday - and perhaps Liverpool may have produced a more competitive title bid had they addressed the issue that Burnley highlighted early on.
2. Hull 0-2 Chelsea - Formation of champions
October 1, 2016
Chelsea's tactical switch proved too much, as goals from Willian and Diego Costa cemented Conte and his team's confidence in their new formation
After a sub-standard first-half display against Arsenal in September, Antonio Conte flipped Chelsea's season on its head. At 3-0 down, the Blues switched to a 3-4-3 formation in the 55th minute in an attempt to contain Arsenal's wave of attacks and prevent further humiliation. The approach worked well, and Conte stuck with it for the trip to Hull the following weekend.
Mike Phelan's charges were enjoying a relatively strong start to the season, which included a surprise opening-day victory over champions Leicester, and had proved a tough test for one of the division's big boys already - Manchester United required a last-minute Marcus Rashford goal to beat them.
Chelsea eased to victory at the KCOM Stadium
But on this occasion Chelsea's tactical switch proved too much, as goals from Willian and Diego Costa boosted Conte and his team's confidence in their new formation - one which complemented the qualities of Chelsea's most influential players in David Luiz, N'Golo Kante, Eden Hazard and Costa. The Hull game began a 13-match winning run, which set the tone for a season of dominance.
3. Tottenham 2-0 Manchester City - Poch exploits Pep's flaws
October 2, 2016
For Spurs, this triumph kick-started their title challenge after a stuttering start to the season which featured too many draws
Afore Tottenham ceased Manchester City in their tracks at White Hart Lane, Pep Guardiola's first season in English football looked set to be a prosperous one. City had won each of their six league matches afore their peregrination to north London in early October, including a fine Manchester derby win away at Old Trafford.
An own goal from Aleksandar Kolarov and a trademark Dele Alli finish weren't enough to knock City off the top of the table, but it did instigate a string of lamentable results and performances which led to them being eliminated from designation contention by the turn of the year. Draws at home to Everton, Southampton and Middlesbrough in their next four fixtures set the tone for a dismal season of results at the Etihad
Pochettino got the better of Pep at White Hart Lane
For Spurs, this triumph kick-commenced their own designation challenge after a stuttering start to the season that featured an inordinate quantity of draws – six in the first 11 matches.
4. Swansea 5-4 Crystal Palace - Double sacking derby
November 26, 2016
Swansea led 3-1, Palace fought back to lead 4-3, and then the Swans did the unthinkable and snatched it in stoppage time
This topsy-turvy affair at the Liberty Stadium ultimately contributed to the firing of both Bob Bradley and Alan Pardew.
Swansea led 3-1, Palace fought back to lead 4-3, and then the Swans did the unthinkable and snatched it in stoppage time courtesy of a Fernando Llorente tap-in. Although it was one of the most unpredictable and dramatic games of the season, this clash lacked serious top-flight quality: both sides conceded horrendously sloppy goals - featuring deflections, dire defending and a number of goalmouth scrambles - and showed why they were in for a season of struggle.
Bradley was sacked and replaced by Paul Clement a month later, with Pardew having got the boot just a few days earlier (merry Christmas to you both). Both teams now look in good shape to avoid the drop: Sam Allardyce has guided Palace to within a point of safety, while Clement and Swansea also have a good chance of finishing outside the bottom three after securing victory at Everton.
5. Arsenal 1-2 Watford - Wat next for Arsene?
January 31, 2017
This defeat by Watford signalled the start of a storm at the Emirates, which has since seen infighting among supporters
Watford were many punters' tip for relegation at the start of the campaign, but the Hornets look to have evaded the dreaded second-season syndrome which has felled many before them. This terrific showing at the Emirates was arguably the key moment in their battle for survival.
For Arsenal, this was the moment when they began to throw away their strong first half of the season. Arsene Wenger's men found themselves 2-0 down in the first 15 minutes, courtesy of goals from Younes Kaboul and Troy Deeney; Alex Iwobi scored a second-half consolation before the hour mark, but that was all the hosts could muster as they fell below north London rivals Tottenham in the table. Spurs have remained above Arsenal ever since and already secured a higher finish than their neighbours for the first time since 1994/95.
Poor Arsene Wenger can't escape the protests
This defeat by Watford signalled the start of a storm at the Emirates; infighting among supporters, a rise in 'Wenger out' banners (both at the Emirates and much, much further afield) and public tantrums from Alexis Sanchez. It's left them with an uphill struggle to secure Champions League football – something they last failed to do in 1996/97.
6. Swansea 2-0 Leicester - The end of a fairy tale
February 12, 2017
The bulwarking champions engendered a lacklustre, laboured and turgid away performance, registering just a single shot on target against relegation rivals
In less than a year, Claudio Ranieri experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in professional football. Designation-winning manager against all odds in May; out of a job in February.
This loss to Swansea summed up the Italian's second season in charge. The forfending champions engendered a lacklustre, laboured and turgid away performance, registering just a single shot on target against relegation rivals.
Ranieri was afforded two more games at the helm - an FA cup subjugation by Millwall and a 2-1 reverse against to Sevilla in the Champions League - but the nature of the Swansea setback sparked the commencement of the terminus for Ranieri's Leicester journey.
7. Manchester United 1-1 Bournemouth- Another Bour draw
March 4, 2017
The biggest take-away was United's inability to break down a 10-man unit who defended stoically throughout
Jose Mourinho's pursuit of Champions League football may still be successful via the Europa League, but games like this one at home to Bournemouth typify why his side look set to miss out on the top four.
This encounter will be best remembered for a Tyrone Mings stamp on Zlatan Ibrahimovic, which resulted in a five-game ban, and the elbow that Ibrahimovic aimed at Mings in return. Yet the biggest take-away was United's inability to break down a 10-man unit that defended stoically throughout. Ibrahimovic had a penalty saved by Artur Boruc, but United were unable to convert their 20 shots into a winning goal.
The Red Devils' league season has been characterised by similar results: they also fell short in converting chances at home to Stoke, Burnley, West Ham and Hull. As a consequence, their Champions League aspirations are reliant on a successful conclusion to their Europa League campaign.
8. West Ham 1-0 Tottenham - Hammers burst Spurs' bubble
May 5, 2017
While Tottenham's subjugation by West Ham last Friday burst their designation bubble, Hammers fans will view this match as the one that cemented their Premier League status for another season – and quite possibly preserved Slaven Bilic his job. The Croat's side have struggled to adjust in their incipient circumventions at the London Stadium, but last week's derby prosperity made it feel like home for the first time.
For Spurs, this was near attestation that they'll be ending the season potless once more, despite another valiant effort. Mauricio Pochettino's men had won their anterior nine top-flight matches, but were left to rue an insouciant spell between the middle of October and terminus of November when they emerged victorious from only one league fixture.
Leicester City have been drawn against Spanish side Atletico Madrid in their maiden Champions League quarter-final.
The Premier League champions progressed to the last eight by beating Spanish designation-chasers Sevilla 3-2 on aggregate.
Leicester will play the first leg against last year's beaten finalists away from home on 12 April, with the return leg on 18 April.
Holders Authentic Madrid face Bayern Munich, while Barcelona take on Juventus, and Borussia Dortmund play Monaco.
Full draw:
Atletico Madrid (Spain) v Leicester City (Eng)
Borussia Dortmund (Germany) v Monaco (France)
Bayern Munich (Germany) v Real Madrid (Spain)
Juventus (Italy) v Barcelona (Spain)
