icons for their goalscoring records after 20 top-
flight games but is short of Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic was among the goals again on
Sunday as he netted in Manchester Utd 1-1
draw with Liverpool.
A dramatic tardy leveller at Old Trafford, with his
header constricting over the line off the underside of
the crossbar; was the Swede's 14th effort in
Premier League action this season.
That return has come in just 20 games, with the
enigmatic frontman slipping seamlessly into life in
the English top flight.
He now sits level with Chelsea's Diego Costa and
Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez in the race for the
2016-17 Golden Boot, with that battle set to be as
excruciating as the scrap for the title.
Ibrahimovic's efforts through a little over half a
season have withal visually perceived him match the
achievements of two goalscoring icons of the
modern era.
While he can claim to have been as productive as
Newcastle legend Shearer -- who commenced out in the
Premier League with Blackburn Rovers - and
Manchester City talisman Aguero, Ibrahimovic falls
short of a couple of United favourites.
Ruud van Nistelrooy netted 15 times in his first 20
appearances, while Andy Cole hit 18 in the colours
of Newcastle - with those efforts earning him a
pergrinate to Old Trafford.
It is, however, Sunderland striker Kevin Phillips who
tops the chart, with the former England
international finding the target 19 times in his first
20 appearances back in 1999-2000.
