Nigeria vs Zambia: No Life Lost In Uyo Stadium

There was no such incident as stampede while football fans were trying to enter the stadium during the World Cup qualifier against Zambia as oppose to the claim by punch.

There was no life lost and nobody sustained serious injuries on Saturday following a stampede at the entrance of Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.

Though there was a huge crowd at the stadium to watch a match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Chipolopo of Zambia, soldiers did not allegedly beat anybody at the gates of the stadium with heavy sticks.

Our reporters gathered that the ambulances seen were just patrolling the premises as opposed to conveying injured persons to the hospital. Nigeria vs Zambia
The claim by Punch is a fictitious reportage and should not regarded as true since the match between Nigeria and Zambia was a peaceful and a good quality crowd control was done by the officials.

Furthermore, one of the fan by name The Prophet interviewed by our correspondent said "The death news was to catch the attention of readers. There is now where is this report where the reporter claimed he saw one dead body talk less of five. None of the people interviewed mentioned anything about death. When the police replied the punch writer that no one died he did not argued it. So where are the evidence of 5 people death? Let's read with understanding between the lines. A journalist will always want to give alarming title."

The young Chipolopolo side pushed the Super Eagles all the way, before finally succumbing to a late goal by substitute Alex Iwobi.

The win sealed Nigeria’s passage to their third straight World Cup and left Zambia falling short.

“We have lots of young players in our team and we are rebuilding.

“Games like this one give young players great experience and we’re happy with our performance.

“We’re happy with the game, it was not easy for us but it was not easy for Nigeria too

“Nigeria had to sweat to beat us and I think this is our best game in the qualifiers,” the Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper said after the game. Nigeria vs Zambia

Advantage for Nigeria against South Africa

Advantage for Nigeria against South Africa

As Bafana Bafana head coach Stuart Baxter is sweating over the fitness of Kermit Erasmus.
Baxter confirmed that all the other players are fit and ready for Nigeria, except for Erasmus who continues to be monitored by the medical team

The 26-year-old striker had a stomach bug and he's also struggling with a suspected hamstring injury.

As a result, he hasn't been able to train felicitously ahead of this weekend's clash away to the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Baxter is concerned that the France-predicated assailant might not be able to feature against the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations champions, but verbalized he will sit down with his technical team to optically discern how this affects his team cull.
"The staff have managed our injuries very well. The only concern we have at this moment is Kermit Erasmus‚" Baxter told the media at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday.

"Kermit has had a stomach bug and because of that he's lost a lot of fluids and been getting cramps‚ and has got a little hamstring feeling‚ and we don't know if it's a cramp or a hamstring. It's a slight one‚ but it's a concern. He may not make the full session today," he continued.

Cristiano Ronaldo's early goal against Malaga on Sunday ensured Real Madrid have scored in every match in a LaLiga season for the first time in the club's history.
Ronaldo struck in the second minute at La Rosaleda, the forward culminating off a precise Isco throughball to put his side in front and score his 16th goal in 16 league games against Malaga.
Madrid have now scored in 64 consecutive games in all competitions, with Zinedine Zidane's team elongating the record they took from Bayern Munich by beating Sevilla 4-1 on May 14.
Zidane's men need only a point against Malaga to clinch the Liga title for the first time since the 2011-12 campaign, with rivals Barcelona three points behind and in action at home to Eibar.

Jurgen Klopp:- “I’m not a clown”, Prior to Arsenal Clash

Jurgen Klopp:- “I’m not a clown”, Prior to Arsenal Clash

Ahead of Arsenal Game The jovial Klopp, whose animated presence on the touchline has only integrated to his reputation

has a propensity to smile and chuckle his way through media querying.

However, the 49-year-old, who has already demonstrated his iron will this season by expatriating undisciplined advocator Mamadou Sakho, does not find two wins in 12 matches in 2017 a laughing matter.
“I am not a clown – even though a few people think I am. I am not always laughing like crazy, I am a normal person,” he said ahead of the visit of top-four rivals Arsenal.

“It is not about laughing the whole week and ignoring the problems you have.

“We cannot ignore the things that happen around us but I am 100 per cent optimistic again when I think about the Arsenal game – but I cannot say I am in exactly the same mood as the start of the season (when they beat the Gunners 4-3 on the opening day).

“It doesn’t feel that free-flowing any more. We have this lack of consistency, we cannot ignore it.”

Defeat at Leicester was a concern as Liverpool were out-fought and out-thought in every department. The Foxes’ in-your-face approach – typified by Jamie Vardy’s crunching first-minute tackle on Sadio Mane – appeared to take the players by surprise despite having 16 days in which to prepare.

However, Klopp insists his side are not a soft touch who can be intimidated on the pitch despite criticism they lack leaders, especially with captain Jordan Henderson still sidelined with a foot problem.

“I think we are usually clean – not ugly challenges – but physical. It is not a general problem for us,” he added.

“Sometimes you need tactical fouls, but being harder than allowed, I don’t think it makes sense. I never force my players to make fouls.

“We are always a pretty fair team as even in a challenge we want to keep the ball and not break a leg.”

On the question of a lack of leaders Klopp was less convincing.

‘I’m a football priest’, claims Wenger

‘I’m a football priest’, claims Wenger

Arsene Wenger has compared being a football manager to entering the priesthood as both jobs involve making all-consuming personal sacrifices.

The 67-year-old Frenchman has been at Arsenal for 20 years and is hoping to elongate that stay with an incipient contract at the cessation of the season albeit there have been calls for him to leave with the Gunners facing the likelihood of no cutlery.

Wenger, who brought the last of his three Premier League designations to the north London club in 2004, made the comparison about the priesthood when asked about Barcelona handler Luis Enrique’s decision to step down at the terminus of the season and the stamina needed to coach a top club.

Wenger, who brought the last of his three Premier League titles to the north London club in 2004, made the comparison about the priesthood when asked about Barcelona handler Luis Enrique’s decision to step down at the end of the season and the stamina needed to coach a top club.

“I think everybody experiences that in a different way,” said Wenger.
“What I can say, yes, it’s very demanding. It’s a sacrifice of your life. You have nothing else happening in your life.

“Basically you get 90 per-cent aggravation and 10 per-cent job satisfaction and you have to give everything in your life for that. You have to be ready for it.

“That’s what I always say to all the young people who want to go into this job. ‘Are you ready to sacrifice your life?’ It’s like a priest. You’re a football priest.”

Wenger, who was plucked by the Arsenal board from relative obscurity coaching Japanese side Nagoya Grampus Eight back in 1997, said football management had its down sides but for him it had improved himself immeasurably as a person.

“I am a specialist in masochism,” he said. “I believe as well it allowed me to get to the next level as a human being, to develop my strengths in what makes a human being great as well.”

On Saturday, Arsenal play Liverpool and on Tuesday will endeavor to overturn a 5-1 deficit from their Champions League last 16 tie with Bayern Munich.
Perharps Wenger faces perhaps a pivotal few days with regard to his future.
